Crestview was once known as "the icebox of Florida", due to it having the coldest winters in the state. Crestview is now known as the "Hub City", because of the convergence of Interstate 10, State Road 85, U.S. Highway 90, the CSX railroad, and the Yellow River and Shoal River in or near the city.
